This week me and my group have been learning about matariki.  Here is a picture I drew to share my understanding.  My class also drawed pictures

  1. Cool Turua, Your ancestor Te Roro o te rangi had a famous patu like weapon called a mere. This mere was called "Kaitangata" and was at the heart of a fierce war between your ancestors of Ngati Whakaue and another iwi Ngati Tuwharetoa from Taupo. It was a sad day and Ngati Whakaue didn't win, but what is remembered is the courage that your ancestors showed during battle.
